About the Bluefix team

Owner and Managing Director Brad Rowe is an experienced boat builder and together with his wife Charlotte established Bluefix Boatworks in 2009..

Brad’s passion is building and refitting boats to the highest possible standard and he believes it to be a privilege to build specialised boats that are finished immaculately.

Brad and Charlotte are keen fishermen and enjoy spending their pastime chasing billfish with their two children. They have grown Bluefix Boatworks to be one of New Zealand’s most reputable boat building facilities.

Our Team

Here at Bluefix Boatworks we have a world class team, made up of some of New Zealand’s best boat builders, marine painters and engineers.

Boat Building:

Our boat building team varies from extremely talented wooden boat builders to high end specialized composite boat builders and cabinet makers. We ensure that all boat building is completed to the owner’s specifications and requirements. We can complete your repairs, insurance work or refit requirements on the marina, on the hard, or inside our large facility in the Bay of Islands Boat Yard.

Marine Painting

The Bluefix marine painting team is world renowned for superiority. From simple repairs of scratches and scrapes to full re-paints, every paint job that the team completes is of the best quality finish, with no compromises. We have a purpose-built spray booth on-site to ensure quality and use only the best materials and products to guarantee that our paint jobs will stand the test of time. We are extremely proud of every paint job that leaves the Bluefix facility.

Wendy Croft

General Manager

Wendy is the General Manager at Bluefix and is in charge of the day to day running of the shed and boat yard. Wendy is a passionate and experienced boaty and was previously the crew chief on a large mothership and sportsfisher traveling offshore. Wendy is in charge of all invoicing and always knows exactly what is going on.

Tim Hight

Site Manager

Tim is an experienced high-end boat builder and Site Manager. Tim completed his apprenticeship at Vaudrey Miller Yachts and was the leading hand for multiple superyacht tenders including tenders for Larry Alison’s ‘Rising Sun’ and Roman Abramovich’s ‘Eclipse’ tenders. He is a keen yachtsman and enjoys getting out on the water whenever he can! Tim has over 20 years experience in boat building and has been with Bluefix for 5 years as Site Manager

Cody Kelly

Foreman

Cody completed his apprenticeship with Bluefix and won the apprentice of the year award at the completion of his apprenticeship. Cody is extremely knowledgeable in all areas of boat building + marine painting and keeps the workshop entertained with his beautiful singing voice!

Tony Millar

Head Marine Painter

Tony heads up the Bluefix marine painting team. He has over 30 years experience and he is unmatched in New Zealand. He spent 11 years as the head painter at Alloy Yachts working on superyachts and finishing them to the highest possible standards. He has painted some of the most beautiful superyachts in the world including the iconic J boat ‘Velsheda’ and ‘Kokomo’. Tony has travelled the world carrying out his trade to the highest level in Australia, Europe and Asia. Tony has been with Bluefix for 5 years and runs the painting team extremely efficiently and ensures every boat is finished to the owner’s exact specifications.

Kurt Govorko

Yard Manager

Kurt is the Bluefix Yard Team Manager and is responsible for all of our Marina and Yard work. Kurt completed his apprenticeship with Bluefix and is an incredibly valued member of the Bluefix team.

Jamaya Stewart

Store Manager

Jamaya is the Bluefix Store Manager and is in charge of all inwards and outwards goods. The storeroom is run with very strict systems and all goods go through Jamaya and our detailed software system ensuring accurate accounting for all materials.
